How to prepare window openings for warm installation?

  1. Before leveling, priming the holes is key.
  2. Use mesh and Styrofoam adhesive or illbruck PR005 mortar to level "locks" and joints. Align the opening throughout the thickness of the wall, avoiding smooth lintels. On the lower parts of the hole, apply glue with an embedded mesh, aligning the plane to the narrowest point in the hole.
  3. Then, expose about 30cm of substrate, cutting out the styrodur under the window and on the sides. In the case of backfilled foundations, make an excavation for access to the styrodur.
  4. For external roller shutters or facade blinds, consider making setback lintels with additional insulation without going beyond the plane of the wall. Determine with the supplier the method of insulation for standard lintels.
  5. For balcony doors or floor-to-ceiling windows, use understructure or extensions for a tight seal and thermal insulation. Without them, it is necessary to have a foundation of suitable material, tightened with mortar and reinforced with mesh for the stability of heavy windows.

For balcony doors, the foundation should reach approx. 2cm below the future floor, providing clearance for installation and sealing. For HST doors, the threshold is designed flush with the floor or slightly higher. Details of the implementation of the foundations are determined individually.
