Standard windows glass glass-pane-types standard

Standard Glass are made of float glass. This type of glass is characterized by a smooth surface, flexibility and strength. These features make it widely used in the manufacture of windows and other building components.

  1. Smooth surface: float glass is made by melting glass raw materials in special furnaces and pouring the liquid mass onto the surface of a metallic bed. The process results in a smooth and even surface, which is important for window glass, as it allows light to pass through and an unobstructed view to the outside.

  2. Flexibility: float glass is relatively flexible, which means it can be easily bent without cracking. This makes them more resistant to minor loads and vibrations, which is important in the context of windows that have to cope with various weather conditions.

  3. Strength: Float glass is also known for its high tensile and compressive strength. This means it can withstand certain mechanical loads, such as wind, rain and snow, which is crucial for its applications in construction.

It is worth noting that although float glass has many advantages, it is not safety glass. If broken, it shatters into sharp pieces, which can be dangerous. Therefore, in some applications, especially where there is a risk of damage, other types of glass are used, such as tempered glass or laminated glass, which are more resistant to damage and splinter into smaller, less dangerous fragments.
